MADE NORTH - Designer Showcase

MADE NORTH - Designer Showcase
at the d-space gallery at Digital Media Centre, Barnsley.
Until 17th of August 2012

The MADE NORTH Designer Showcase celebrates today’s innovators and provides a creative platform for presenting their work.  The exhibition runs until the 17th of August.

Creative innovation by artists and designers is integral to the continued renaissance of the north. The exhibition showcases products, furniture and prototypes by both established and emerging northern talent.

MADE NORTH brings an exciting mix of contemporary design to a wider audience and presents opportunities for people to interact with, learn about and buy the work. We want to promote awareness of contemporary northern design and the designers.

MADE NORTH is a project of creative organisation Culture North. Patrick Murphy, Creative Director says “MADE NORTH brings an exciting mix of contemporary design to a wider audience and presents opportunities for people to interact with, learn about and buy the work. We want to promote awareness of contemporary northern design.”

At the heart of the MADE NORTH project is a desire to reconnect people with the source of the things that they buy for their homes and lifestyle. “We aim to put a face and personality to designers and producers and make buying local and regional design easier.” says Patrick.

The exhibition includes new work from Hebden Bridge based furnture maker Jim Leach, a range of products by Newcastle based designers Deadgood including work by David Irwin whose ‘Working Girl’ furniture range was only launched last month. Superb handmade home wares by Turner & Harper from York, innovative wall mounted accessories by Bettina Nissen and DesignedMade from Holmfirth showcase a range of metal bowls in bold colours and striking patterns.
